We make innovation visible - for collections, for research, for everyone.

ELIO – Development Laboratory for Innovation in Object Digitisation

What we stand for

Our mission
Together with technology partners, we develop practical solutions for the digitisation of cultural collections.
Our work combines scientific expertise, technological innovation and the demands of everyday museum life.

Our aim is to create digital tools that are open, scalable and sustainable and that make the handling of cultural heritage easier, more efficient and more accessible.

Our vision
We are shaping a digital cultural landscape in which collections are visible worldwide, knowledge is freely accessible and museums can use technologies that really suit their practice.

We believe in open infrastructure, responsible innovation and a future in which digitalisation is a shared process that connects people and strengthens cultural heritage.

What does ELIO do?

Develop prototypes

We are working with technology partners on new digitalisation systems. These include 3D scanners, AI-supported software and modular workflows.
Our solutions are intuitive, scalable and consistently orientated towards the practical requirements of museums.

Our goal is clear: Digitise efficiently and sustainably.

Strengthening the community

We connect people, ideas and institutions and create spaces for exchange and co-operation.

Research, the tech industry and the cultural sector come together in workshops, networking meetings and hands-on formats.

Together we are shaping the digital future.

Enable participation

Whether you are a start-up, a GLAM organisation or an interested member of the public, there are many ways to get involved with ELIO.

Open calls, events, citizen science formats and prototype tests invite you to get involved.

Digitisation becomes a joint project.
